I used to go for massages every month. Once finding out I was pregnant I haven't during the first trimester. I was thinking of making an appt again.... do you get massages now that they're pregnant?
I know prenatal massages are safe b/c they prop you up a certain way and they know what is ok to rub and what is not. I'm going for my first next week and I'm so excited!
I go once a month to get a pregnancy massage @ my chiropractor. I love them. They're mainly just for the relaxation b/c nothing is deep tissue obviously.
Thanks... I did email the lady I go to...she comes to my work and has her own business on the side. I'm not sure if she has special training in prenatal massage... I'll wait for her to get back to me. My neck and shoulders hurt pretty bad here lately so I need to do something.
I have already gotten them and they prop you up in different ways not to hurt that pregnancy, but you do need to tell them that you are pregnant and need a pregnancy massage. There is added training your MT needs to do it.
At my last massage the MT told me that she does quite a few of them and that she had one client that went over due and there are certain pressure points that you avoid cause it can induce labor, but this client had her massage the points and she went into labor later that day. I am going to try that if LO is late.
My BFF is a massage therapist and after my BFP she told me absolutely no massage until after 13 wks. Since then, I've just gotten the occasional shoulder rub from DH. I think BFF is the only one I'd go to right now, unless I found someone who has specialized prenatal massage training. One of the PPs mentioned trigger points that can cause labor, which is something that BFF confirmed.
If you can find someone with the proper training, I've heard that prenatal massage can be heavenly!
I've gotten two since the beginning of 2nd tri. My MIL's best friend is a MT and my IL's give me gift certificates from time to time for massages. The MT has a package of 4 1 hr massages for $180- I told DH he could feel free to buy that for me for mother's day! hehe

I'm going this Sat. and I can't wait! It's at the same place as my chiropractor and they all specialize in prenatal care. My neck has really tight for some reason
