Our city has been on strike for over 2 weeks, no resolve in site (idiots want more money in our drownign economy)

So no garbage pick up. My mom (aka a saint) is comign to get our garbage to pay & drop it off at a private waste facility but I have to get it all together & man does our garage stink (think Easter turkey carcass & kitty litter in there-blah!)

Is it all city employees that are on strike, or just to solid waste department? 

That really sucks.  I worked for the local city government, and I know how crappy things are because of the economy.  We had talks of strike, but no one followed through.

Pretty much the whole city (indoor & outdoor workers). So daycares, buildign permits, meter maids, waste collection, parks & rec, everything shut down.

I knwo they have the right to strike ( I am part of a union myself). But i live in Windsor, acros from Detroit, wea re the motor city of Canada. It is hard when GM shut down, Chrysler just sent out layoffs & are threatening bankruptcy, out unemploymetn rate is at a record high & they are striking for more money. Most of our union city thinks it BS and they should be glad to be working, but in the mean time I wish my neighbours would stop putting their garbage out at the curb!
