Despite the watching of soap operas at a ridiculously young age, I was incredibly shelted as to the actual details. So much so that in 9th grade, one of the boys in my class asked me, via note passing, "spit or swallow". I thought he was talking about toothpaste - my answer was "spit! gross! why would you ever swallow - doesn't that mess up your stomach??". Somehow I ended up with the note at the end of the whole thing (said classmate did NOT share with me why he found my answer so hilarious) and my mom found it. I got the lecture of a lifetime and she STILL wouldn't tell me what was wrong with the conversation. I think I finally figured out what he was trying to ask me by senior year...

That's kind of funny, but my DH was kind of the same way, very sheltered! I was glad to break him out of it. Your story has given me a good laugh, doesn't stink so much having to come back to work!
