This isn't my birth story but one that I heard at my appointment yesterday with my midwife. This couple that we did childbirth classes with had their 3rd baby yesterday. She woke up around 3am with contractions, she or her DH called the midwife who lives about 45 minutes-1 hour away. The midwife received a call on her cell at like 3:30am from the DH saying that the baby was coming NOW. The midwife talked him through the delivery over the phone and when she finally got to their house she was being followed by a police car with sirens going (soon followed by 2 more cops) bc she was speeding through town. She didn't even stop to talk to the cops just said something about a baby being born inside and set the grandmother out to talk to the cops. And through all this the baby was fine and the midwife didn't get a ticket. This story made me glad we only live about 10-15 minutes from the midwife's house.
DH & I joke about camping out in the parking lot at the hospital...I can't imagine delivering in the car or on the side of the road or anything like that!
I hope my second baby comes this fast!!! This is an advantage of a planned homebirth I guess...better to be born too fast at home where the supplies are then born too fast in the car on the highway on the way to the hospital! Thanks for sharing!

I've definitely thought about this- if we are on our way to the hospital and we get busted for speeding, we're doing what this MW did and just floor it... we can explain later.
Re: Great, funny homebirth story
