My husband and I live in Southington and just found out we are pregnant!! Hooray! We've been tring for almost a year, so this is so exciting. Does anyone know anything about midwives or natural childbirth in CT? Thanks ladies, I appreciate your help:)

hi there!

 

www.connecticutmidwife.org has a listing. I am thinking about having a midwife in addition to my dr. I just had to change drs. I go to Dr.  Rhee in bristol, and he is wonderful. Stay away from Uconn. They have caused me nothing but problems!! It's been a hard pregnancy already for me. 

Anyhow, I wish you luck! Where are you planning on delivering? (old bradley memorial or meriden?) one of my friends from my hometown of Meriden is going to dr. helm at the midstate hospital. I guess it depends where in southington you are. I live in Farmington presently!

Thanks for the recom! We are about a mile from the Southington/Cheshire line. I looked at St. Mary's in Waterbury because they have water birthing and a good midwife program, but my husband would rather go to Yale... which I think is a bit far, and i'm not sure I'm comfortable with that. Honestly, I've talked to a few people who have had a midwife and a homebirth and crazy as it sounds, I think I may be interested! We definitely need to find a happy medium:)

Hi and Congrats! I live in Bristol and I plan on doing a med-free birth at hartford hospital. My doctor isn't a midwife but she is a-okay with me wanting a med-free labor/birth. My friend gave birth at Bristol Hospital (I can ask who her doctor is) and they were very pro-natural.

Any reason why you chose Hartford rather than Bristol?

I would check out Dr. Demanski in West Hartford.  She has a website you can check out - I'm not sure about hospital affiliations and whatnot.  www.naturalbabydoctor.com
