Poll: What did you give your child for his/her 1st birthday?

I am just curious since I need to start thinking about this soon.  I am trying to decide if I should just get her toys or do something sentimental.

We bought Ethan a Radio Flyer #1800 Big Red Classic ATW.  He loves it and plays with it all the time.  We use to pull him around in it, but he loves to pull the wagon himself.

Cadence was getting bored with her toys, so we got her some new ones:

Leapfrog musical table- loves it

Leapfrog phonics magnets for the fridge- really loves it

Some books- always a hit

Have fun picking out something for her! I can't believe our summer 08 nestie babies are coming up on 1 year old..sheesh that was fast!

We got Benjamin a Radio Flyer Rock and Bounce Pony (I think that's what it's called).  He loves it.  We also got him a Radio Flyer Pathfinder Wagon and my parents got him a PBK Anywhere Chair.  The wagon and chair are still in the boxes as DH has slacked on bringing the wagon upstairs for me to put together since I can't life heavy stuff and the chair will be put into his room when we move the glider out to the new nursery sometime this summer.

I wanted to go the sentimental route or start some kind of tradition but couldn't think of anything.  I'd be curious if anyone has any ideas. although it's a little late for Jackson's 1st!

We ended up getting him a pull behind frog and indoor frog tent.  His theme was frogs and he LOVES toys with strings for some reason. He pulls that thing all over the place!

Oh, I am also supposed to write him a letter for each b'day.  I got this kit for at my baby shower with each year until like 18 but I haven't done it yet...bad mommy.  And I also want to do a photo book of each year, but haven't gotten to that either...toys are way easier than sentimental mainly b/c I'm queen of procrastination and perfectionism which are a bad combination!

This sounds like me as well!  I get all these great ideas and then I have no time and wait until the last minute!

Well our tradition that we started was a slideshow and a letter. ?I plan to do that every year as long as I don't get lazy with it. ? ?

For open em up presents, she got the FP Bounce and Spin Zebra (Waste o' money) and a little stuffed arm chair that rocks and has an ottoman. ? That was the best money ever spent. ?She loves to sit and read in it. ? Or have her snack in it. ? Or watch Classical Baby in it. ? She has a little blanket that she pulls over herself while she sit in it. ?And she likes to push the ottoman all over the house.?

We also got her ?some books.

I also plan to make her a photobook of her first year, I figure its not too late to do that. ? ?Its just a matter of arranging them and figuring out what pictures to put in and sending the order off to Apple. ?

A DVD player for the car.  LOL.  I knew he would get plenty of toys from everyone else so I figured I would get him something different.  This DVD player was on sale on Black Friday so I bought it then and wrapped it up and put it in his closet.  I actually forgot to give it to him on his birthday and we just got the thing out last week so he could watch Yo Gabba Gabba in the car on the way to Savannah.

We got DD a PBK anywhere chair with her name monogrammed on it and the Bounce and Spin Zebra along with some smaller items like books etc.  DD loves the anywhere chair and it's perfect for her to look at her books, play with toys, climb on etc.  She uses it in some capacity every day.

We also got Caroline a personalized PBK chair and some other small gifts. ?She loves the chair and still uses it all the time now!

DS has the PBK with his name too (Christmas from Grandma).  He loves it.  Great idea.

Thanks for all the great ideas!  Caroline already has a PBK chair - someone gave it her before she was even born.  I like the wagon idea too!  I may just have to do a combo present with some fun toys, plus something a little sentimental.
