Breastfeeding

The STRANGEST thing happened..

I nurse my LO in the morning and at night.  During the day, he has expressed milk which I pump during work. This morning, I get him as usually and bring him to my bed to nurse, and NOTHING comes out of one breast, nothing!  He started to fuss (I usually have a feeling of let down so I knew nothing was coming out).

I switched him sides and we were fine.  Luckily he wasn't interested in nursing on both sides this morning.  Has this happened to anyone else?

I pumped later and got about three ounces.  Could one boob be drying up on me?

I just need my supply to hang in there for 63 more days.  I'm too close to the goal to have to supplement now!

  • Sometimes it takes me a long time to get a letdown...usually when my supply is getting low.

The stimulation from the first breast could have made it easier to get a let down when you switched to the second breast.  What I mean is that it isn't necessarily the one boob drying up.

  • Lately my right side has been really slow with the let down. DD sometimes gets frustrated since nothing comes out. I switch sides and let her nurse the left first. At this point I've pretty much given up the strictness of switching sides and always staring where you left off, etc. She's finally over the super distraction of a month ago so I don't want to go back to that nonsense by  making her start with the slow side. Usually when the right is slow and I switch to have her start on the left, it starts fairly quickly when we go back to the right.
