WWYD? The stomach bug has been running rampant in our town, and it usually lasts 24-36 hours. Almost every kid at the day care has had it.
Maddie came down with it Wed. night. She threw up all night and most of Thursday. Friday fever was gone and no more vomit/diarrhea. Lily never threw up, but she had fever and one diarrhea-like poo on Saturday. Sunday she had normal temps and regular poo.
Last night DH doesn't feel well, so he was up all night with diarrhea and started throwing up around 7am. I was up since 5 with the girls and have been imagining symptoms since then. I took them to day care and told work I'd work from home so as not to infect them. I have had a fever all day and some mild diarrhea, but no throw up.
Do I bring them back here and hope for the best or do I try and get my parents to pick them up and take them for the night? I don't want to get them sick if I end up getting worse. DH is totally useless. My reservations come from the fact that if the girls are what got me and DH sick, I don't want the grandparents getting sick too.

My blog * We made the national news!
I'm so sorry you guys are going through this, and truly feel for you - between October and March, our family got the stomach virus 3 (!!) times, and every time, all 4 of us got infected. ?It sucked. ?The third time around, I only got a very minor form of it - just some diarrhea and I was feeling a little nauseated all day long, but no vomit, thank God. ?
?Anyway, based on my experience, I'd advise picking them up and taking them home tonight - even though having some grandparent help would be wonderful and much easier on you, particularly when you're feeling rotten. Kids are contagious with that virus for up to 2 weeks after the symptoms disappear, so your parents are almost certain to get sick. ?Since you've been around your whole family and you've been cleaning up after everyone, you probably already have the virus, but it is possible to get a mild version of it, as you probably have right now. ?
?Take care and I hope everyone feels better soon!
Katie?
Oh no!!! You poor thing! I'd try to avoid spreading it out of the house too, so I think the GP's house is a final resort idea. If DH started puking this morning do you think that he'd be okay-ish by tonight or tomorrow morning to help you out??? If DH had icky tummy and then diarrhrea last night but wasn't actually vomiting until this morning, you might be now where he was last night and will probably start puking tonight, kwim?
Viruses like that tend to hit everyone different, depending on your immune system, so I will be thinking good thoughts that you will slip under the wire. When ever anyone throws up around me I instantly think my puking is imminent, even if I never actually get sick. I get all hypochondrial about it, LOL Maybe that's what's bugging you today???
Good luck!!!
Ditto. That is the WORST!
since they already had it- i don't think you'll "reinfect" them with the same bug... just make sure your DH can watch/take care of them if you do get really sick.
hope you all feel better soon... i feel for you!
This is exactly what I thought until my Dr. told me that we CAN reinfect them - its not that "type" of virus. That said,. it is supposedly spread through liquid matter (i.e. puke, diarrea), so as long as you wash, and they are not touching it (TMI, sorry), then they shouldn't get it. this is what I was told, although I'm still skeptical.
That said, I'm so sorry!
