Hey cool! I've never met anyone else who has taken this drug. When I tell people about it, they're like huh? Is that some sort of champagne?
Anyways, I used to take 1 tablet 3 times a day, and had to take it 1/2 hour before meals. But maybe double check with your dr. I stopped taking it once I got pregnant because my dr. couldn't find any info about it being safe during pregnancy, so just to be safe I stopped.
I took it for quite a while and I always was told to take 3-4 tablets 3 times a day. I really worked for me and I never would have been able to go 17 months without it. Good Luck. Where did you order it from? Oh, and I assume you are taking it for increasing your milk.....I didn't look to see if you had a ticker or anything.....sorry if I'm wrong
I take 6 a day and it has made a good improvement. I take those over the course of a day. (ie, not at once) Good luck! I've been taking it for over 2 months and couldn't feed these two without it.
From Kellymom:
Generally, we now start domperidone at 30 mg (three 10 mg tablets)
3 times a day. In some situations we go as high as 40 mg 4 times
a day. Printouts from the pharmacy often suggest taking domperidone
30 minutes before eating, but that is because of its use for digestive
intolerance. You can take the domperidone about every 8 hours, when
it is convenient (there is no need to wake up to keep to an 8 hour
schedule?it does not make any difference). Most mothers take
the domperidone for 3 to 8 weeks, but sometimes it is needed longer
than that, and sometimes it is impossible for mothers to maintain
their milk supply without staying on domperidone. Mothers who are
nursing adopted babies may have to take the drug much longer. People
taking domperidone for stomach disorders are often taking it for
many years.
After starting domperidone, it may take three or four days before
you notice any effect, though sometimes mothers notice an effect
within 24 hours. It appears to take two to three weeks to get a
maximum effect, but some mothers have noted effects only after 4
or more weeks. It is reasonable to give domperidone a trial of at
least four, and better, six weeks before saying it doesn?t
work.
So weird to see this post...I'm asking my GI doc about this drug for Jax...yes, I know it's illegal, but I SWEAR I keep hearing stories of some infants getting it...anyone KNOW?
Thanks all! I took 20mg earlier but I'll up it to 30mg at a time tomorrow. Actually its funny, since I ordered it (almost 2 weeks ago) my milk supply has actually been pretty decent, but I could definitely use another few ounces a day. I occasionally have to supplement with formula, and my goal is to be completely formula free every day.
Sweater, I do know that domperidone was originally supposed to be for GI issues, so it makes total sense. In fact, if one of the side-effects is a less cranky tummy for Henry, I'll sure be happy about that!
I've been taking 20mg three times a day but I have only seen a very slight increase (and I've been taking it for two weeks). I think I am going to up my dosage.
Re: If you take Domperidone...how much?

Hope that helps!
