Too chunky for the Bumbo seat?

Our little guys aren't even 3.5 months old yet and their thighs already barely fit in the Bumbo seat! (I know they're a little young for it yet; I picked one up at the MOTC consignment sale and have let them practice sitting in it for a few mins at a time, which they love.) Anyone else had this problem? Or does anyone know of a brand of a Bumbo-type seat that's a better fit for chunky babies?

How big are your boys?  Mine are unofficially 15lbs and they are fine in it.

Lol. That's cute. My DD is a chubby thigh girl. She outgrew it a lot faster than DS, then they grew taller, and thinned out and lost some of the chub and I still use my bumbo every day to do their hair. I set it on the counter in my bathroom in front of the mirror and they brush their teeth while I comb their hair. So even if they are to chubby now, they will probably thin out once they grow a lttle taller.

As of their last pedi appt 4/8, Alex was 15 lbs 2 oz and Will was 15 lbs. But at any rate, I can barely get them in and out of it b/c their thighs get stuck. (Your boys' weight may be distributed differently.)

Mine had some chunker legs too, we kind of... mashed them in. ::Steps up for MOTY award::

We started using them at 4m and they had grown out of them by 7m.

hehe-- at 4m, the girls were 16lbs! At 20m now, they are 24 and 25lbs, so the growing slows but damned if their little leggies aren't still chunka munchables.

yeah my DD has chunky thighs...and couldnt sit in the bumbo past 3 months.... my TWO year old can fit it tho LOL

I could have written that too!!  When I went to pick them up to take them out, the bumbo got stuck and went up with them....it was hilarious.  I still try to shove them in, but they don't like it.  Imagine your litle one being stuck in concrete from the waist down....that is exactly what it looked like

We have the Bumbo and the Bebepod and the Bumbo works great for my son who is thinner and the Bebepod works so much better for my daughter who has some serious chunky thighs.

Good to know; I'll have to find a Bebepod! I had read a comparison and thought I remembered that the Bumbo had bigger leg holes but I must have remembered wrong. (Good thing I only bought one Bumbo seat at the sale; I almost bought two!)
