Hi ladies.....
I just had my twin girls on Easter....they were 37 weeks. "Baby A" Isabella was 5lbs15oz and is home and doing great. Baby B, Angelina, was 4lbs5oz and had been on the tube. They removed the tube today and she might get released tomorrow. I am SO excited to have my baby come home! My only worry is that she will come home and not do so well. How did your babies do once they got home? Any advice/input would be great!
Thanks,
Leah
Re: NG tube advice please.....
They will not release your LO until they are certain she can take all her feeds by mouth for 24 hours, so you can expect that if she does this that she'll be home at least in 48 hours baring any other issues. Once they get home it is difficult if they show signs of reflux. If you see the signs talk to your pedi right away about things you can do and meds.
Congrats on your little girls!
Reese had to nipple all of her feedings in a reasonable amount of time (30 minutes for each feeding) before they would discharge her from the hosptial. When she did discharge, we were told that she needed to have a certain amount of breastmilk/formula in a 24 hr period. (I think it was 400ccs) If she wasn't taking that or spitting up a lot, we were to call the pedi. Thankfully, once we got home, she decided that she liked to eat and getting that much down her wasn't a problem.
Good luck!
