Pumping when baby gets bottle??

My LC said to be sure to either nurse or pump every 3 hours.  It's DS' baptism on Sunday and we're having 20 people over after.  I have pumped BM to feed during that time but I'm sure church and my party will be more like 6 hours.  Since I am the host I hardly feel like I can sneak away for 20 minutes to pump.  Do you think  this will truly ruin my supply?   It's just stupid to me that I have to pump everytime he gets a bottle, kind of takes the point out of bottle feeding.  FWIW-DS is 8 weeks.

  • nah, skip just pump a little longer at the next feeding to keep the supply up.  I've missed a pump here and there and hardly noticed a difference.  You may be uncomfortable if anything.

  • I don't think it would but you might feel very full by that time. I've pumped for 2 weeks now and would get hard spots if I delayed my pumping for too long. That said, I didn't always pump every three hours and have been fine.

  • There are times I've gone longer than normal without pumping or nursing.  If nothing else, I just get sore and full - it doesn't seem to affect my supply if it's just a once in awhile thing.
