Breastfeeding

Breast feeding question

Hi! None of you know me but I was told to come here because you ladies might know  the answer for my question

My BFF just has a baby a week ago and she's having issues with bf'ing because she's not producing enough milk. Her sister told her to drink non-alcoholic beer b/c something in there (can't remember what exactly) helps. She;s not sure so I told her I would ask for her in here. Do any of you know what else can she do?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Breast feeding question

  • I'd first suggest to her to make sure she's drinking lots of water.  Also pumping between feedings or before bed can help increase supply as well.

I've been drinking Mother's milk organic tea as well-it is to increase healthy lactation.

I've heard the beer thing as well.  Although i've heard the darker beers are the ones that can increase supply.  Guiness maybe

  • Hmmm...I haven't heard NA beer would work.  It's the brewer's yeast in alcoholic beer that increases production.  Before she tries that, has she made sure that she's drinking enough water, getting enough calories, and baby is nursing long enough and often enough?  If so, she could try Fenugreek or contact her dr/mw about getting an Rx for Reglan.
  • Thanks a lot for your help ladies. I will tell her all that!
