3rd Trimester

Jacob's Birth Story (kinda longish)

Wow.. I cant believe it actually happened!

I mean I knew I was going to have a baby for the past 9 months but it actually happened and cant believe its been almost a week. Time has flown by so fast.

I was induced on Friday, April 10 due to high blood pressure and I was leaking a bit. I was induced on my due date which is neat to tell people that I had my son on my due date since this doesnt happen very often. We got to the hospital at 6 in the morning and got settled in. They hooked me up to the IV and we waited for a while. At 8 they started me on Pitocin and at 8:30 my Dr. broke my water. I was surprised that she broke my water so early but oh well. My contractions started immediately but not too bad. I didnt want the epidural until I couldnt handle it. It took 2 hours and I finally got the epidural at 10:30. It hurt but now I cant really remember what they feel like. After the epidural i was in total heaven. At around 1:00ish, we were under a tornado warning and the nurses had to rush into all the rooms to cover the patients up and the windows and had to move the beds away from the windows. It was crazy but i couldnt do a whole lot because i didnt have feeling in my legs. My family and friends came in to visit and around 7:30 I was FINALLY 10 cm. and ready to push. 13 hours labor is long but worth it. My DH held one leg and the nurse held the other leg and started to push. I pushed from 7:30-8:45 and my DS was here. It was so amazing to see his face finally after 9 months. I immediately saw my husband in my sons face. It was so nice. I have a 3rd degree tear but I am recovering well. After a few minutes of cleaning my DS off, he was still not breathing correctly and not turning pink.. he was pale. They had to take him away right then. I was so scared. After 2 hours of waiting for some news on my son, the Dr. came in to tell us that he had a huge air sac in between his right lung and his chest wall and that he was admitted into the NICU. Right then and there I started to cry very hard. He was in the NICU the whole time i was in post partum. After that was cured, they found strep in his blood and they put him on antibiotics. To this day he is still in the NICU and is finally being released on Monday. He is doing wonderful and we get good news everyday. I am nursing, so it is hard going to the hospital 4-5 times a day to feed him but at least I get to be with him. He is so sweet and so content. He barely ever cries and he is nursing wonderfully. He latched on immediatly. I cant wait to take him home and have him to ourselves forever.

Even though my plans that i made went wrong I am still happy with everything and still praying that my baby boy gets better soon. Keep us in your prayers.

Goodluck with all of your deliveries and LO! It is the most amazing experience you will ever have! ENJOY!
