insight on hydrocephalus please...

so aaron has post hemorrhagic hydrocephalus. it may resolve or it may not. the dr. said he's too small for the shunt because they usually wait until the baby is 1500 g (aaron's was 960g as of yesterday). he said the other option is to tap into the ventricles with a needle and suck the fluid out. i do'nt know what to think about this and possible future ramifications. any insight would be helpful.
