WDYT of Shannon?

Dh and I were discussing at lunch today.

We both really like it. We're kind of into the simple and spelled right when it comes to name so it's definitely something we'd think of.

LOL. All the Shannon's I know are the beauty queen type more than anything.

It was just a passing thought we had today. I do like the name a lot but I'm sure we'll be sticking with Autumn or Amy because that's what we keep coming back to.

I am sooooooooo glad your reference point is a beauty queen instead of mine. Now that I am older, I do like how Shannon sounds so Irish. I love Irish names (the easy ones to pronounce!).

I think Shannon is a nice name.  I know that supposedly it can be used for a girl or boy though (Yes, I once knew a boy named Shannon so this affirms that). I'd probably prefen a name like Aerin or Maureen as those are more my style.

My initial thought is that it's a river, not a name (I'm not a huge fan of place names).  It's pretty normal as a first name, though, I guess.  It's not bad at all, just nms.

I love the name, but I'm biased because both my husband and my best friend have that name. (neither of which are fat or beauty queens!)

I like Shannon.  I feel like I knew several girls with this name growing up, but now I don't know any.

I like Shannon much better than Autumn, and about the same as Amy.

It's a river, an airport and a town -- and my middle name.  So, I like it!

I think it's a pretty solid name.  I don't love it but definitely don't hate it either.  I knew 2 Shannon's growing up - they were both bubbly happy people, so that's what I associate with the name.

I love Amy though!!

My friend has a 2 yr old names Shannon. She is the cutest little thing with huge eyes and tongs of curly hair. I think it's a sweet name.

My daughter is Shannon, so I'm obviously biased.  Every Shannon I've ever known has been just darling.  Bubbly, quick witted/sharp sense of humor, and high energy girls.

FWIW, I've never met a fat Shannon, or a beauty queen named Shannon...
