They have a large water cooler bottle that they keep change in at the back of their closet. MIL went to put some change in there this morning and it was gone. I only had about 500 in it but, the thoughts of someone being in your home makes me sick.
Last year, BIL had the same thing happen to him twice within a couple of weeks. They both think that it was their neighbors.

That's horrible. My parents have a cabin in VT that is very isolated and someone kicked in the door and went through it, but they didn't take anything. The police thought it was probably local kids. We were all upset about it. It was such a violation and considering how remote it is, I was afraid for my parents staying there. They got an alarm.
DHs sister's house was broken into a few months ago, but she has an alarm and it seemed to scare them off. The cops told her that with the bad economy, they had seen an increase in break-ins.
Anyway, I'm so sorry. I know how that feels.
