  • With my first pregnancy, I used Soothies, Lily Padz, cotton washable ones and the Johnson and Johnson's disposable.

The jelly-like pads are soothing but they're a pain in that every time you go to nurse, you have to rinse off first to ensure that your new baby doesn't ingest any of the residue from the pads. They're also not really recommended to use too frequently since they block the milk from coming out at all.

The ones that I ended up liking the best for everyday use (once the intital soreness from nursing wore off) was the J&J disposable ones. I've already loaded up on them for this baby.

I would have one pack of the jelly ones too, just in case you do have a lot of pain with nursing in the beginning.

    Good luck!

  • From what I hear, lilypadz can cause clogged milk ducts and mastitis.
  • Hmm, I better stock up on some cotton pads then. I just bought Lily Pads and thought I was home free, but the clogged milk duct/mastis thing worries me. I will have both on hand for when DS comes.?

    Good question, btw!?

  • Lilly padz are for occassional use, like under a swimsuit or a dress if you don't want the bulkier pads to show. They aren't really breathable. I have a set for random use, but I'm also stocked up on the disposable ones.
