for me a triple is not worth it bc DS is 2 and won't want to be in a stroller much longer... so i got the Valco Trimode Twin + toddler seat- so i can use it as a double when needed. Most triples are just so huge and so expensive. You'd have to decide if your toddler would want to be in one much longer. I personally can not wear a baby for long- it hurts my back- but i know many mommies do it.
I did end up getting a triple stroller. I used it for a few months and just sold it this past weekend. Now I just bought a Valco Tri Mode Twin with a toddler seat too. If you can swing the cost, I would go that route. I ended up buying mine on Ebay for a decent price and just ordered the toddler seat from another website.
My toddler just turned two and likes to walk everywhere. I also can't carry a baby for very long either. I have the Beco Baby carry which is great but my back hurts after I'm done.
Love it!! Yes - easy to use, fairly simple to fold. Fits well in the back of our Acura MDX (although really its an "EVENT" stroller, not a "take to the mall" stroller). Heavy, but not any more than any other deluxe stroller of this type. Does fold with the toddler seat, too.
Only drawback is that you can't use snack trays when the todder seat is installed, and there is no snack tray for the toddler seat. But as we have never had a stroller WITH a snack tray, Rowan doesn't know what he's missing.
I'm a Upromise junkie and here's how I saved money on a new one:
I have a Club-O (Overstock) membership, which is 5% off all purchases (I think the membership is $29 for a year, so you have to know you're going to buy a lot). Overstock has the Valco stroller for 699. Subtract the 5% and it's 664. Then on top of that it was a double savings month, so I saved 6% of that cost for the kids college! I bought the cup holders and toddler seat somewhere else online where they had free shipping.
Re: ok, so is a triple stroller even worth it?
My situation was almost exactly like yours.
