Wow Vent: - My "Fill-In" Doc Had Some Nerve!

So, I had some concerns going to my OB today, and was looking forward to my OB confirming everything was normal.  The only issue was, he was not going to be in do to an emergency, but I had a choice of seeing another doc in the partnership - perfect.  Not a problem for me.

BP:  Perfect!;  No Protein in my urine;  Up by 2lbs. - whatev.

So, when I see the doc I explain all of these new symptoms and I was wondering if everything was okay.  Well, before he did an internal exam, he had several things he wanted to say - one:  I gained 45lbs in total to-date.  Yes, I have been keeping track at home too, but what shocked me was when he said, "Wow, you're a totally different person!"  I explained that my OB is aware of my weight, and he isn't concerned - what did he do?  In return, he schruged and hurumphed a bit - odd.  He also said, "Have you been eating sweets?  Hmmm? 'Cause there's sugar in your urine."  I explained I haven't been eating anything out of the norm. His explanation?  "Well you passed your Glucose Test, so whatever."  I mean the fricken doc had a comment for everything I am and nothing about what I was concerned about!!  Argh!

Finally the guy did an internal and found that the head was completley down, which is causing for pressure in my pelvis, and there is no sign of dialation.  Oh, wait, before he said my cervix was closed he said, "Oh, I feel the head!"  In my mind, I was thinking I was dialated - nope.  He just chose to use words without thinking ahead.

Needless to say, I fully miss my OB today :(  He is a saint compared to this one that saw me.

  • Yuck on the sassy doc!  Glad you at least had some defense for him that your doctor is fine with things.

And what kind of OB thinks pregnant women DON'T eat sweets when we can?!  Duh!

  • Loading the player...
  • You are way better than me. His face being where it was would have made for an easy throat kick. Just sayin'

  • Okay! You may not like this-but I like those kinds of doctors that keep me on my toes. I want to know if I am doing anything wrong before knowing the right. I hate it so much when the doctor just sort of um...hmmm. ahaa me and get over it. I need to know in depth everything including the wrong.

But the sarcasm; he could've kept it to himself. Goodluck

  • Well, thats okay, thats the type of doc you like; And honestly, if I had that type of doc from day 1 I wouldn't mind at all...but my OB was never like that.

Yes, I think it was the sarcasm that pissed me off more than the proactive-ness.
