Ok, so I am an idiot who put the Easter ham in the oven to store it there until I could make space for it in the fridge... and then completely forgot about it. This morning, DH was like, "Oh btw, the ham is still in the oven, you know." ...f&^%.
I put it in the fridge after that, but it's not been refrigerated for a day and a half. I was going to make split pea and ham soup out of the rest of it, and I was really looking forward to that. Part of me thinks, well it does contain a lot of salt, which is a preservative, and I was gonna cook it for many, many hours on the stove, so that may kill the bacteria... but the sanitary (and pregnant!) part of me thinks, EW, no way! Toss it!
I dunno, WDYT? Is it a goner? TIA!
Re: NPR - Is my Easter dinner spoiled? WWYD?
Do not use that, definitely, no doubt.
?
Sorry ?
Oh, that's a bummer... and no, I wouldn't eat it.

Oh man! I hate it when I do stuff like that!!
But yeah, it's a goner.
Ham is "cured"...it would last forever probably. I would eat it. My mother never put meat away the night before if it was cooked (roast or ham)...if it was still hot. She figured it was just warm up the fridge so covered it and left it out all night. I don't put things away until morning either (even chicken) as long as it is cooked. I DO put things away that have dairy in them or eggs. It's been many years and I'm "old" and haven't died yet! lol
