DS is not into delayed gratification, so no amount of reward systems work. He just doesn't want anything like stickers etc that much and if you give him candy you will a) regret it and b) find he just wants more candy and will totally forget the relationship with the PT. Likewise he doesn't care enough about choosing undies or any of the other suggestions I've tried.
But finally - FINALLY - a "rule" like no peeing in undies, no peeing in the stroller, no peeing on the rug or on the floor - has got him. He sings these things to himself and then asks to go to the toilet!
I know some people like having rules but this is ridiculous. How can "No wee wee on the (carpet) stairs" be more enticing than m&ms?
Anyway we're on day 3 totally in undies during the day with only 1 accident. Not bad.
BTW when do kids start to stay dry overnight? Not pushing that one yet obviously!
Re: PT breakthrough?
lol my DD was kind of the same way. Not so much with the rules but she didn't care about rewards, she just did it when she was ready.
B was dry at night from the start and will still wake up wet but very rarely. I just keep the pull ups on her.
