DD has been swaddled at night to this point so far. She's now becoming
a little Houdini and busts through. She even got her arms out of her
nightgown 2 nights ago!! Since she STTN, I thought maybe she could be
ready to start weaning. Last night I didn't put her in one at all and
in a sleep sack instead. She went to bed just fine but then proceeded
to get up every 2 hours to nurse. Perhaps she was startling herself
awake?
We did travel back from Easter yesterday (a 3 hr drive). She had great
naps all day but then a 3 hour one at 6:30 in her car seat. I took her
out, nursed her and put her to bed. Not sure if that can throw off her
sleeping or not too though.
How did you know when your LO was ready to wean? How did you do it?

Re: Weaning from the Swaddle - How/When?
DD #1 passed away in January 2011 at 14 days old due to congenital heart disease
DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption
I stopped after a week. She wanted her arms out so much I just stopped swaddling her. She lays on her belly because of stomach issues so she sleeps more peaceful that way.
We fully swaddled DS until he was about 3.5-4 months old, when he started busting his arms out of it, we downgraded to just swaddling his lower half and leaving his arms out - he did great with this! sleeps from 930pm-8ish on the weekends when i dont wake him for daycare. Well we just recently decided to wean him all together, esp since its getting warmer out, well its going so so, the first night he woke up upside down- his head was where is feet were when i had put him down, then the past 3 nights ive had to go in and i end up swaddling his lower half.....
good luck! i think it just takes time for them to get adjusted
While DD can't roll yet, she kicks her feet so much that she ends up at the end of the bed and horizontal. She's banging her head on the rails waking herself up!
