Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Sick baby. I haz one. :-(

Poor Sarah.  She is very congested (which sometimes makes her cough) and just not her usual happy self.  She doesn't seem to have a fever, though.

My original though was that she caught a bug at daycare.  But since she doesn't have a temp I am thinking it might be allergies.  It could be hay fever, cats or from the cigarette smoke on some of our relatives clothes yesterday (no one smokes around her though), but there is at least one reason each of those doesn't fit.

We set up the humidifier in her room last night (my mom just gave us hers because she never uses it... SWEET!) and I suppose it at least kept things moist enough to not dry out her nose.  I also did the saline/bulb syringe on her earlier and it helped a lot, and she's in a better mood now, but I can hear her nose getting snotty again.  I might call the pedi and see if I can use the phenylepherine nasal decongestant drops I have in our baby medicine kit.

Send my sweetie get well soon vibes.  I really hope she is 100% by this weekend because she's getting baptized.

  • My Sarah had something similar a few weeks ago (she also gave it to DH). ?She had TONS of nasal congestion that developed a cough after about a week, but she never did get a fever. ?I finally took her to the doctor at 2 weeks to check to see if her lungs were clear because of the cough (they were), but she was already starting to get better (not that he would have given us anything anyway)

Just keep sucking out her nose and using the humidifier. ?I also put a rolled up blanket under the head side of the?mattress?to incline it a bit and raise up her head while she slept.?

  • jack's got something similar...the cough keeps getting worse though so we have to go to the pedi this afternoon. :-( i hope your LO is better soon!

Good idea, Dawnzer!  I wanted to do something to prop up one side of the mattress to help her sleep.  The only problem I see is that she squirms all around the crib at night and will end up with her head at the bottom of the slope by the morning.

LOL - DD is a squirmer too, but thankfully she doesn't get herself turned around! ?I don't think it would be too bad though, since the?mattress?isn't totally?rigid, the incline is mainly on one end and it is still flat on the other.?
