Silly childcare question if you dont mind?

 

I wrote a post the other day hoping you would see it..but i dont think you did.

Anyways- the child i am watching, 4 month old boy. Shits through his diapers everytime. I have to change his outfit. Its not occasionally..its everytime he poops.

So i asked the mom to consider a bigger size..she said no, i still have 2 packages at home i have to use first. If you have to- just change him every hour to hopefully prevent a blow-out.

What would you do in this situation?

Ugh...is this the same one that brings her kid in the soaked diapers and hasn't fed him yet??  What a treat she sounds like.  And her DH...WINNER. 

Hmm...how many hours a day/week do you have him?

LOL...yes it would be the same woman!

We are sorda friends..but not really. i use to work with her husband. So i took this on to help them out...but i am afraid i didnt know it would turn out like this.

I watch him 10hrs/day so 50hrs/week which is alot for 80./week

when the words came out of her mouth to change him every hour..i wanted to kill her. If i wasnt depending on the 80 i would say forget it. But unfortunetly it is helping me be a SAHM.

sorry to butt in, but $80/week??? That seems very cheap. Where do you live?

I just don't get why she doesn't just exchange the diapers?  Unless it is like the huge boxes you get from Sam's where there are like 6 packages inside 1 big box.  Cuz um yeah...if he poops...it's going to be a blow out no matter if you change him every hour.  It's not like you let him sit in his poop, and then he poops again, and then he blows out of it.  She doesn't sound like she understands very well.  Maybe explain to her again that no matter if you change him every hour, that if he poops one time in the diaper, he will blow out of it?  Or suggest exchanging the diapers for a larger size if she can? 

FWIW I have a girl who would blow out of her diapers all the the time and I used to be nice and put them in the wash with clothes so they wouldn't get poop stains on them.  I told her mom to get her different diapers or a bigger size and she wouldn't, so I stopped washing her poopy clothes...I put them in a plastic bag so she could deal with it.  The next time she came she had bigger diapers.  LOL.

I live in NH....and yes it is cheap. But i thought i was "helping him out" ya know being friends...but omg its one thing after another with these people.

I agreed to 80 becuase i am 25, first time mom. I am not cpr/first aide certified....and i am home anyways so i thought the 80 would help us out with grocerys since i am not working and DH is working like 3 jobs to support us.

And so now we are depending on the 80 so i cant just give them the boot!

can you exchange the diapers. thats probably what I would do in that situation. no reason to let the baby suffer.

I told her to exchange them but she buys them from diapers.com. I even suggested giving some of both, so if he hasnt pooped in awhile i would put the size 3 on him. If he poops then i will put the size 2's on him for a little bit...i thought that was a compromise.

But no she came to pick him up and said her DH said no we are going to finish the size 2's first. So ath that point i was like forget it!

I would buy my own..but he has sensitive skin and can only wear certain ones..so i am all set with sneakig around and i shouldnt have to buy them anyways.

I really hope it gets better...they don't sound like very responsible or caring parents imo...and that makes it hard on you because you sound like a caring person.
