how did you know? DD has an appt Monday for her 2 mo check up and lately she has been spitting up which she never did and arching her back when she cries after each bottle. Just curious.
those are signs of it.. dd's cries were more like screams though. and also she would choke or gag alot, and her tummy would gurggle constantly.. she actually still does all of this on medicine. The medicine just basically makes it not burn when they do spit up. GL!
We are currently on her 3rd medicine, prilosec. It seems to be working the best out of the three, but she still is very fussy, and in pain.. Zantac did not work for her, prevacid worked, but two weeks into it she had outgrown the dose.. diff. babies take each medicine diff., but if what they give doesn't even seem to be making a diff. at all, ask for something else.
But like I said, and the pedi will prob tell you the same, the med, will not stop the spit up, and doesn't completely cure them.. It just makes things a little easier.. and 2-4 months is when the babies have the worst of it, so just hang in there (at least thats what I keep telling myself)
Our LO would stop breathing because of it and was actually in the NICU after she was born (they couldn't figure out what was wrong). She spits up a lot, swallows like she has something in her throat (hours after she ate), coughs, has loud, wet burps and screams in pain. When she's screaming, she balls up her fist and curls up her legs-it's obvious that she is in pain.
We just started on Zantac last week and it didn't work. We just began giving her Prilosec and she is better but still seems to be in pain at times. The next step will be to do Prilosec and Zantac together.
