This is me and my husband's first pregnancy so i'm sure that's why we're so "zealous" but we already picked out names. We had always talked about names we liked for the "future" but never really agreed. Well today, we thought of a boy name and a girl name that we both just fell in love with. We're not telling anyone the name until the baby is born to avoid all that "Oh... really?" or "I knew someone named...." But it's so nice to be able to think of our little boy or girl as thier names. I can't believe how much I love these names too. They just sound like my kids already. Very exciting.
Re: Already picked the names
I wish I had a name! lol I'm kind of pushing it now! Congrats on having a name though!
me too! could you share the names with us?? maybe give us some ideas...my husband and I just cannot pin a name down. it's driving me nuts!!!
That seems awfully paranoid. Maybe if there is someone who's also pregnant in there and you want to be safe, but if no one else is pregnant then there is no reason to stay quiet unless you want to.
In my case it wouldn't be paranoid at all. If we said we had names picked out but just weren't sharing them, we'd be hounded constantly about it. H's family is ridiculous about baby names, with everyone trying to guess, or making suggestions, or saying things like, "Well, all I know is you'd better not name the baby X, because that name is hideous." There are 13 kids under the age of 8 in his family, and I've watched it happen every single time.
We have picked a "perfect" boy name but can't seem to find a girl name that sticks. (Obviously we have plenty of time
). We aren't finding out the gender & we aren't telling names. It's going to drive everyone crazy....I love it!
Yeah, we had the girl name picked out before the BFP but never liked any boy names. Which is funny because every since the BFP I've had a gut feeling that this baby is a boy. And the boy name that "came to us" is just so perfect. I love it.
My family is already hounding me so I gave them a list of names and left them to try to figure out all the combinations. We are finding out the sex of the baby so I know the hounding will begin again after that point. But I just can't wait to present our little boy or girl to the world by anouncing their name!
Here's the list I gave my family:
Boy names - Joshua, Titus, William, Derek, Aaron, and Elliot
Girl names - Amelia, Elizabeth, Maret, Ruth, Bernice, and Abigail
We've already picked out a first name for a girl. It's very unique. I've only known of 4 people with this name. Two famous and 2 IRL. I'm like you I don't think I'll tell anyone the name for awhile. I think around 12 weeks when I feel more confident about the pregnancy I might start telling people. I keep telling SO that we are probably going to have a girl because I am so obsessed with the name we picked. I love it!
He's so funny because he wants a boy because he has two daughters from his previous marriage.
Yah, definitely be selective on who you tell your names to. When I told my mom our back-up girl name she responded as if I was asking her if it was OK...newsflash grandma, it's our decision!!
Plus, sometimes it's easier for others to like the name when there is a literal baby in front of them to attach the name to~which cuts down considerably on crappy comments. We've told a couple people, but are definitely not divulging to everyone.
