anyone doing any w/DC. Obviously at this young age it's probably not actuall swimming but getting them accustom to the water and getting their face in it.
My son is almost 15 months so he's a little older but we are doing swimming classes with him. Unfortunately the 1st two didn't go great, he pretty much cried the entire time unless we took him out of the pool. We thought it was that he was cold but now we realized we think it's because he can't touch his feet on the ground b/c when he's in the pool he's clinging onto us for dear life which is so unlike him.
Anyway, long story short I think it's a great idea to start them early, get them used to the water.
Yep! We started last Saturday and go again tomorrow. JD loves it! Like pp said he pretty much clings to me while in the pool but he laughs the whole time and will let go if he sees a toy floating a few feet away and try to get it! If you decide not to do swim classes the instructor said the best thing you can do to keep them from being afraid later on is to make sure you get their face wet in the tub!
Yes - we actually just started on Tuesday and go on T/Th. DD LOVES it. However, even though the class is for 6mos-2 yrs, it's definitely geared more for kids that can walk. But, I think it's good to get her used to the water. She loves splashing and kicking!
