Sandbox

When can you/did you take DC into a sandbox? ?It's getting nicer here and I thought I'd take DS to the park but there is nothing there for him to do (except swing, which gets old quick) if he can't go in a sandbox and I can't imagine he won't eat the sand since he puts everything else in his mouth. ?I'm curious what others experiences have been. ?TIA for any insight, experience. ?

Re: Sandbox

  • You could try the sandbox and see his reaction. If he does try to eat sand, he most likely won't like it and won't do it again! I used to nanny and I would hold the kid/baby and let them move from bar to bar on the monkey bars. That just requires some good arm strength from you!

  • not sure what parks you're close to, but we have taken dd to riverside a few times and there are a few smaller babies to play with.  she has a little shovel and pail which keeps her hands occupied :)  if she starts to put her hands to her mouth i just grab them and distract.

  • My niece and nephew have been to the beach here on several occasions at your DS's age, and while a bit of sand might make it into his mouth, it's not much :o)

I would take him and see how he likes it.
