1/2" long cervix at 29 weeks?

I have a friend who is pregnant with twins, and she was just put on bedrest yesterday.  How long can she sustain the pregnancy after her cervix has already shortened this much?  I'm really worried about her...  Any information would be helpful.

My cervix shortened to 1/2" at 23w & I was put on bedrest & mild meds. ?I was taken off all meds at 34w & by then I was completely effaced & 4 cm dilated. ?Ultimately, I was induced & delivered at 35w6d. ?Bedrest can be very effective! ?Tell your friend to stop by here...all the women on this board are extremely supportive & knowledgeable. ?I wish her the best.

(also, for those who don't know the conversion, 1" = 2.54 cm)?

I was 3cm dialated at 31w5d and made it to 34 weeks with bedrest.  It is totally possible to last a long time with the cervix at that length, tell her to take it easy and bed rest is the best thing she can do for her babies!  GL to her!
