2nd Trimester

ON & Motherhood

Apparently we have Motherhood here in Toronto and I stopped by Old Navy which I'm renaming Old Junkie.

I learned that the fabrics for the clothes at Motherhood could not possibly meet fire code standards and would melt into your body should you catch fire suddenly.

I also learned that the Maxi Dress on pregnant women, well THIS pregnant woman, looks absofreakinlutely ridonkulus. Hysterical laughter from the depths of the change room today.

I've seriously had the better fit, better quality luck at non-maternity stores this year. I didn't have the energy for the Gap to try on that cute dress from the other day though. Maybe next week.?

Re: ON & Motherhood

  • heyyy, i found some cute ON stuff online! but the insides of store are junky, yes.

  • I'm thinking the Motherhood in Canada is different, than the one in the US. I decided to take a look the other day too, and was appalled! Gross.

So far the only luck I have had is at a great little boutique store in my town, and non-maternity stores. Might have to venture online. Any suggestions for a good place to look in the Toronto area?

  • ON is only good for maternity and kids clothes, simply because they will only be worn for a few months at that is exactly how long they hold up.
  • I couldn't even bring myself to buy a tank top at ON, and haven't been to Motherhood but after hearing all the bad stuff on these boards I don't think I will bother.  Well, at least we still have cute shoes and handbags, right?

  • I will say, the pants I got from Gap actually wash and iron really nicely and feel like they are almost as good of quality as their regular stuff. ?I also recently bought four of their lace-trimmed tank tops b/c they are super soft and fit great. ?I just hate paying more for maternity clothes than regular clothes.

  • Tank tops I buy at Banana Republic. I have actually bought a tonne of stuff at BR and Jacob here in Canada. This is the year for pregnant ladies in these stores.

Belly & Kick are great maternity shops here in Toronto but they are very pricey. I have a gala event to go to in 3 weeks so I'm going to try there to find something......?

Thanks! I'll take a look, Jacob is one of the only places I havent looked at yet! I've been lucky with all the nice tunic style tops so far. Also got a few nice tops on sale at Thyme.

  • I tired a boutique maternity store to get just a few great pieces to mix with the crap, but those stores aren't made for those of us whose asses grow with their bellies. ?I left feeling like a defeated cow.

True. I buy DS clothes there but he outgrows them quickly. Although.... I guess Landon is gonna have some jacked up hand me downs!
