Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Wooden kitchen playsets.

I'm thinking about getting DD a kitchen playset, but I'm wondering if she might be too young. I see most ages listed as 24+ months. She's 9.5 months old right now, so I was considering this as a birthday present. Did anyone else purchase one for their 9-12 month old and if so, what kind did you get? I'm looking at the KidKraft Large Kitchen. Any other suggestions?

  • Honestly, I think she is probably a little young to get much out of it. Pretend play is more a preschooler level. But that is really cute, and a really good price it seems, so if thats what you want to get her, go for it. Just expect that it may not get much use for a year or two

  • I really wanted to get one for DD for her 1st birthday, but realized it'd be useless and just take up space right now. I'm thinking probably her 2nd birthday now, our friends have a 2 year old who loovvessss hers.
  • I want to get one, but I'm in minnesota so since he's a may birthday, he gets outdoor toys for his birthday.  He will get indoor toys like that for xmas when it will be more suitable (19 months) or maybe his next birthday.

Also, I'm on a local natural family swap group and every so often people are getting rid of their wood play kitchens on there - and it's a lot cheaper than buying a new one.  Real wood toys are SO freakin expensive. :( Although it looks like the one you liked there wasn't completely natural.  I want an all natural one.  They last forever at least and retain value.
