It is pronounced like you have it...it's a traditional irish name. I love it, DH not so much.
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."
I love it. I was planning to use it as a middle name if we had a girl. It combines my grandmother's middle name (Mae) with DH's grandmother's first name (Vera).
Re: What is this Maeve name I keep seeing?
It's an Irish name. It's like may-ve.
?
Maeve is an Irish name... very old school. Pronounced 'mayv'.
IMHO, it's a really great name. https://nameberry.com/name/maeve
Wiki article in case you want too much information:

Agreed.
Also the name of my favorite author - Maeve Binchy (who is Irish)
Depends on where you live. I don't think it would be a prob in the northeast. There are lots of Irish. (As well as lots of everything, really!)
Exactly. Mav? Mawv? How many possibilities could people find?
lol
Sometimes I feel like if we went by the general public, all names would be spelled 100% phonetically to avoid all possible confusion.
Here in New England, I know 2 baby girls under age 2 named Maeve.
I think it's on it's way up around here. Irish names are very popular and this one isnt' overused yet.....

One of my most favorite names -- but unfortunately doesn't work with my last name.
It's a very old Irish name. There was a Queen Maeve in Irish mythology
May-v Like Save but with an M.
It's very irish. I actually prefer it spelled Mave. I think it means intoxicating?
I love the name Maeve.
I didn't know some people had never heard of the name. I know it because of Maeve Binchy -- the author of Circle of Friends.
