WWYD...napping?

DS is not a good sleeper at night, although he is sleeping better than he did from 3 1/2 months until 5 months. I think he sleeps too much during the day. He still wants to take 3 naps. According to the sleep charts out there (in the 2 sleep books I do have) he should only be napping 3 to 4 hours during the day.

It seems that when he doesn't nap as much during the day, he will sometimes sleep better. He also goes to be much easier at night if he doesn't go down for his last nap past 4 PM.

So, my point is, I think each of his naps should only be around 1 hour, so that he isn't sleeping so much during the day. I am debating on if I should start waking him up after 1 hour (his morning nap is sometimes 2 hours). He has been waking up b/t 5:30 and 6 every morning now (he used to sleep until 7) and we have tried everything to get it back to 7, but nothing is working so far (hence why I am thinking he is sleeping too much during the day). Any opinions? Should I wake him from a nap?

Re: WWYD...napping?

  • DS had started waking up at 5am a while ago. We figured out that while his diaper wasn't overflowing, it just wasn't absorbent enough and got uncomfortable & cold around 5am. I switched diapers and the next morning he slept until 7:30.

That's what I was thinking, but we use Huggies Overnights already. Is there something else I can use? Pampers never worked for DS...they always leaked.

What diaper did you switch to?
