Babies: 9 - 12 Months

FFing moms come in!

Have any of you switched or are you thinking about switching to one of the older baby formulas when DC hits 9 months?  DD's on Similac Advanced right now and I'm thinking about starting her on Similac Go & Grow at 9 months, but I don't know if it's actually better for older babies or it's just a gimmick.  I'll mention it at her 9 mo appt but wondered what you ladies thought too.  TIA!

  • i might. i switched dd1 to next step at 9 months. she liked it, it was cheap, so whatever.

  • It may have changed in the last 7 years but when my son was a baby his pedi said it was just a marketing ploy, and keeping him on the regular formula was fine.

that's what my pedi said 8 years ago too!

  • We're just sticking to Enfamil Lipil until this can runs out, then starting milk.
  • I am thinking about switching esp since it is geared toward the age group and I have a coupon. I am all about saving money as well with the lower price.

  • No.  I will stick with the formula I am using now until she turns 1.
  • I switched to the Similac Grow & Go, and DD has been doing great on it.  I don't know if it's "better" or not, but it seems to have a little different consistency.  I checked the nutrients & they are pretty much the same as the Advance, so I switched.
  • I'll talk to her pedi about it at her 9 month appt, so it's a possibility. I do know that I WILL NOT try to start milk anytime soon because she's not so good with her solids yet.

Just a side note, but I have read on here people who switched saying that the Next Step has a bigger scoop. Just make sure you check on the back where it says how many oz it makes. The Enfamil Lipil is a 12.9oz can and makes 94oz, and the Enfamil Lipil Next Step is a 12oz can and makes 86oz. And I think the diff is only a few dollars.

  • Also, as the PP about said, the nutrients are pretty much all the same, there seems to be a little more protein and more minerals in the Next Step.
