The woman that watches DS is a good family friend. She comes to our house 2-3 times a week to watch DS. I would consider our relationship more of a friendship than a boss/employee one.
I don't have a nanny, but I was one for almost 7 years. I enjoyed working for families that ended up also becoming my friends. However, I always understood why my boss was asking things of me & that it was my job to do them. Just?be careful?not to become to comfortable with in the friendship/work relationship. It can be bad for you and for her.?
I love my nanny- we have a great relationship but it's definitely a working relationship. ?She's very involved and knows about all aspects of my son's life but I don't talk to her about anything personal in my own life or in hers. ?Still, I've spent alot of time with her and have tremendous respect for her and am thankful every day that she is a part of our life. ?
You work from home & have a nanny? That's the life! What do you do?
I am very lucky, indeed. I work for a national chain of walk-in medical clinics. I work in the field, so we don't have an office in this market (only clinics). So when I'm not out and about at meetings and such, I get to work from home.
Believe me, though, it's tough to hear your LO playing in the next room and keep working.

Re: How close are you to your nanny?
We are trying to be friendly but still keep it a work-relationship.
It isn't easy- especially since under other circumstances, I would probably want to be friends with her and hang out socially.
Sometimes I find that I am asking DH to talk to her about more of the work stuff- he doesn't mind.
