Hey ladies, Have any of your DC had there feet turn purple and cold? DD has since she was born but it was really obvious yesterday and after googling it, I am kind of nervous as to what may be causing it. I plan to call my Pedi in just a sec and see if it's something that can wait to be seen at her 12mon check up or if I should bring her in now. I was just curious if any of you have experienced this with you DC. Thanks!
Re: Baby with purple feet?
When DD was smaller this would happen if I held her a certain way. I've noticed it on & off since than but not from me holding her, it just happens. Now I'm gonna go google it & freak myself out.
I always just attributed it to the fact that their circulation is not developed very well yet.
I saw this happen one time when we were at the drs for a fever. Thank god the dr just walked in when I noticed the purple feet because I would have freaked out. She said it was normal with the fever, and could also happen depending on the way the baby is held.
But that was a one time thing....
DS has always had purple feet. Our Dr. noticed it at our 9 month appointment. It *could* be something serious (Raynaud's disease), but it's likely just immature blood vessels in the feet. He checked to make sure he could feel the pulse on the inside of his leg. Since it was strong he said not to worry and it should get better around a year. He advised us just to keep his feet warm.
I posted about this a week or so ago and one girl responded that she did have Raynaud's. She said it's nothing serious, just annoying.
