ok, I've been very cool with the whole nursing in public thing, but now that he is getting older I am way more timid (which is not like me)
We were at a play place last evening and he wanted to nurse. I actually got up and decided to leave and nurse him in the car. Normally I would just whip it out.
I think I am worried about what people will think now that he is older. That and he is harder to hold on to!
others feeling this way and get over it? or did you just stop NIP?
Re: NIP after 12mo?
Yeah, now that DS is getting a little older, it's hard enough to get him to sit still and nurse at HOME, much less while we are out and about! So it seems less practical to me.
It's sad, but I'm sure people will judge you. BUT, a lot of people were judging at 4 months too, and I wasn't going to stop then. Do whatever makes you and your DS most comfortable!
I would have no problem nursing DD in public at that age. However, there's no way we can do it- DD is way too distracted in public. I tried a few weeks ago at a museum- we were in a very quiet section with no one else around, and she was still trying to climb all over me and look around at everything.
I think other moms wouldn't judge you- the only people that might are people who know nothing about breastfeeding, and they would likely have a problem with NIP in general, never mind the age of the baby. I say do what you need to do, and screw the judgy people.
