Sleep problems tied into Skin problems?

My son has always had a bit of raw/red skin under his chin/neck to a varying degree. It seems to get better and then reoccurs. The pedi told us plain old cornstarch would work - but it doesn't seem to work as well as Desitin clear (which sometimes works, sometimes doesn't).  I am starting to think this may be the cause of his sleep issues (wakes up multiple times at night and is scratching away at his neck area.  Has anyone else noticed a correlation? Any suggestions to treat this issue? I am sort of getting tired of the pedi telling me just cornstarach is the answer - because clearly it's not!

  • Someone on 0-6 said that their DS sleeps alot better when his eczema isn't acting up so it's quite possible that is what is bothering him.  Have you tried aquaphor?  it worked like a charm for my daughter.

  • DD is almost 6mo and has never STTN, she has eczema, it took a few mos to diagnose it; it's on her face, neck (folds), upper body. our latest treatment is Atopiclair, it's very expensive and has to be prescribed, our allergist swears it's the miracle cure but it hasn't helped yet.... try 1/2% hydrocortisone and see if that helps. Atopiclair is non-steroidal and I really hope it works, hydrocortisone did for a bit but not anymore and I'd rather try something non-steroidal
