Double ear infections, ruptured ear drum and wheezing...

what fun!!  Marina woke up from her nap and her right ear was draining fluid...called the dr and got an appt. right away.  She ruptured her right ear drum, has double ear infections and is wheezing from her horrible cold so she is now on nebulizers for the next few days.  The kicker is that last week she was running 102 temp, took her to the dr on Thursday, but she was fine, slight cough, but nothing else.  Called the on call doc on saturday because she was wheeze a very little amt.  we were told just to watch her and make sure she didn't get worse...the only reason I took her today was for her ear draining.  Don't I feel like a great mom that she has so much going on and I didn't take her back.  Luca stayed home with dad eventhough they are both sick with the same thing.  The doc said to give Luca some nebs too and bring him in to have his ears checked too.  What a night it has been.  Now poor Marina gets nebs at least twice a day, ear drops twice a day, oral antibiotics twice and then her regular thyroid meds....poor kid is doing nothing but taking meds....Please god don't let me get sick!!!  Think I have a chance :)

  • Poor kids! I hope they both feel better soon :( And DO NOT beat yourself up! It is SO hard to know when the little ones are sick. They do a good job of hiding symptoms, and heck, her doctor couldn't even see this a couple of days ago.

I didn't know Marina was taking thyroid meds... my Leo is too.

  • Hey!

I hate to say it but your post makes me feel SO much better.  Although I am sad for Marina!

Rowan has been sick for two weeks.  We took him to the dr THREE times!  My DH took him while I was out of town and they told him it was just a virus and they couldn't do anything for him.

He continued to get a fever so daycare refused to admit him any longer until we came back with a note.  Needless to say, BACK to the dr.

This time, low and behold a sinus infection.   HMMMM.....you mean my baby has been suffering with this for how long and only after we bring him back for the third time can you decide that maybe it isn't the rantings of a dillusional mother?

So long story short, don't feel bad.  It happens to all of us!  We do our best but until they can tell us what is wrong it is all just a guess.
