Have you read the book Little Earthquakes?

I ask because, in your post below re your MIL you mentioned if you  have a c-sect. your DH is to bring the baby directly to you. In the book one of the characters has a c-section and finds out hours later that her MIL got to hold the baby, etc while she was still in recovery.

Good book, if you haven't read it

Jennifer Weiner is a hoot.  I got a real kick out of Good in Bed. 

Little Earthquakes is a good book to read while KTFU, I think.  (Is that the one with the chick who MUST have the best of everything...and as a result has nothing?)

Oh, no I've never heard of it!  I was planning a trip to the library today so I will check into it, thanks for the rec! 

I would be so pissed if that happened to me - Another reason I am not going to have DH come out and tell anyone waiting that he is born.  I would rather have some bonding time with just DH and Ben and BF and all that jazz.  But Stupid MIL will probably be standing outside listening for his first cry and rush in like a linebacker or something!

One of the characters, yeah. It's great. It's not a good one to read when you have a 10 day old newborn, though, as I found out. There's a pretty sad story about infant death in the book.

I don't blame you! We had people in the waiting room with DD and they ended up coming in before I'd gotten to shower, they were there for her first bath and because they were all there crowded around her, I didn't get to see my DD"s first bath

That sucks - why cant people just let the parents experience the life they brought into the world?  FFS.  I will go ballistic...and blame it on the pain meds!
