Fridge to freezer question...

If it's the 5th day and not going to be used, can it go in the freezer that day and be ok?  Even if it's only frozen for 2 days...just to save it?

Yes, as long as it's <7 days old you can either use it or freeze it. I would cry to dump it, so freeze it and you'll find a time when you're grateful for a bit of backup from the freezer.
