dumb question - but is this a contraction??

My stomach has been getting super hard for about a minute or so.. probably 6 times in the last hour. It doesnt hurt - it just tightens up and is really hard. My sister barely ever felt contractions with her 2 girls.. same with my mom.. but i know genetics doesnt really have anything to do with it. I did have a reflexology massage that is supposed to induce labor....?! I think i'm reading too much into this..

I was in L&D the other night and was having the tightening all over and on the monitors it showed that it was contractions, but I didn't feel a single thing. So I'm not really sure.. Could be!

If they are consistent, it could very well be contractions. If not, it could just be BH. If they start happening more frequently or consistent, I would call your dr.

well its 11 pm here.. I think i'm jsut going to get to bed. I guess its been more like 8 or 9 times this has happened in the last hour. Obviously I'll wake up if they get more frequent or intense... HOPEFULLY!! ;-)

It could be.  I did not have the stereotypical contractions with DD and it was kind of scary.  For me it was the consistency with which I would have these "feelings" b/c they were never terribly painful.  If you are having them consistently they very well could be the start of something.  Good luck!

really??!! ahhh - sweet! I'm having it again right now. So did they ever get painful for you.. what happened??

That sounds like a contraction to me. Start timing them!!

 They got rather uncomfortable, but I wouldn't say painful.  I was schedule to have a version the next day due to her presentation, but my "contractions" started that night and they took her via c-section as soon as I got to the hospital b/c it was to later to try and turn her.  However, up until that point my contractions we very much tolerable.  Oh..BTW when they took her they were roughly 2min or so apart.

That's how labor felt for me.  I had no pain at all until my doc broke my water at 7 cm.  I really went into L & D thinking I'd be sent home.  Good luck!
