I have a "meet and greet" with the pediatrician in my doctor's office. I'm going to ask:
1) If he's flexible with vaccines because while my baby will definately be vaccinated, I'd like to do it on an alternative schedule rather than having four vaccines at once.
2) If he has a late night number/nurse to call in case of emergencies or questions.
Has anyone else done this yet? What did you ask/what would you want to know?
Re: questions for pediatrician
If there is a sick and a well waiting room
If you are breastfeeding, if they support it and will help you if you need it
Some of the questions we asked were:
Are there separate waiting rooms for sick/well children?
If we have an emergency and you are not available, will DS see another doc in the practice? Will they know his medical history?
Do you have weekend or evening hours?
Mostly, we just wanted to get a vibe from our pedi, to make sure we would get along with him well. GL!
Who covers when he/she is out?
Are they open weekends?
I asked if there were any books on parenting he recommended, then googled them to see if I could find a theme to his general parenting philosophy. He had some really good ideas.
Also, you should ask if he/she has visiting privileges at the hospital that you are delivering in. Most pedis want to see the baby at 24 hours.
