I just thought I'd post this after reading the question about the PNV post below.
Taking calcium and iron together can reduce the absorption of iron by 2/3.
It is not recommended to take your PNV or iron supplement with milk. Vitamin C, however, can be good for iron absorption.
My doctor told me this the last time I was pregnant and had low iron (which I have this time, too).
Re: PSA: Calcium interferes with iron absorption
I was told to take them separately.
It's good to take the Iron with orange juice just make sure it doesn't have added calcium which many do now.
SAHM to two sweet girls, both born at home; Baby #3 in 2013!
I figured it wasn't totally serious, but thought maybe some people might not know that the two shouldn't be taken together because I didn't know that before I was told to start taking iron supplements during my last pregnancy. I have no clue about that stuff!
