The "safe" temp for a water heater is 120. I'd be willing to bet your DH turned it down well below that. I didn't vote in your poll because there's happy medium!
There's a certain temp you're not supposed to turn the water heater below to avoid bacteria buildup and that sort of gross thing. I can't remember what the temp is though. Sorry.
I think taking it to that extreme is a little drastic.

Oh this is great! I can't wait to show DH the poll. Even if a few of you do disagree with me, so far I feel justified in being angry. I told him I was going to get a thermostat.
You can ALSO mention that the only way they'll get burned is if you let them play with the water unattended. You would be a WORSE mother if you let your baby drown!!!

They make little rubber ducks with a thing on the bottom that will change color if the bath water is too hot. I have one of those. It's like a toy that's functional!
120 degrees is what it should be set at.....and if he needs more proof than a bunch of pregos go to HGTV.com or DIY.com and have him check the "manly" sites for a reference.

Sorry, but I don't think your DH is going to win here. I am sure that his children are well supervised in the bath tub.
Why don't you ask him, what type of a father doesn't want his children to have clean clothes and dishes? Does he prefer germs instead? Hot water kills germs, sorry, but it's a fact.

Oh, this is a GREAT idea. I tried to tell him last night that I had read somewhere a long time ago that water needed to be at a certain temp, yadda yadda, and he challenged me to tell him where, exactly, I had read that! I yelled, "I never thought I would be required to cite my source!" I'll be sure to send him to those sites. In fact, I'll even do the legwork for him, find the info, and email him the direct link!
Tell him that modern times have provided these magical things called "thermometers" that somehow manage to tell you the temperature of the water. I'm sure they're crazy expensive and super hard to find, but somehow, the baby bathtub we bought has a built-in one! Splendiforous!
I so want to call DH at home and tell him to look at the poll, but I'm logged in at home, too, and I can totally see him hijacking my account and posting crazy stuff. Sooo, guess I'll have to wait til tonight. Bummer!
Isn't it great when we have the numbers to show that we are right? He can't argue with that! Anyway, it's going to be a while before you child can reach the knobs. Tell him to deal with it!
Ok, I think there is a median. Yes, your DH can turn the heat down, but it sounds like he turned it down WAY too far if all you were using was the hot water w/ no cold added and it was still not warm. I think you can google what temp your water heater should be set on.
