::Hula::

I responded to your CD post below but have a question. ?How many BG newborn size did you get? ?We want to start CDing but haven't ordered any yet. ?I have a small stash of chlorine free sposies just in case. ?I want to move to the BG one-size eventually so I don't want to order way too many newborn. ?Can you help? TIA.

    Yes, please share Hula...we are CD too but no one I know IRL does so I'm kind of going on my own with all of this.  Whatever knowledge on CD you can share is much appreciated!

  • I would love to help! How many you need depends on how often you're planning on doing laundry.

    We figure on 12 diapers used per day, plus a few extra in case of blowouts, etc. So we have 19 XS diapers that we'll use until the cord falls off. We're using sposies in the hospital (just because we don't have a way to go home and wash them every day)

    Once the cord falls off we have 18 size small AIOs that we can use too, meaning we'll have 37 total, about 2 1/2 days worth in my estimate. So we'll do the laundry every other day at that point, the same as we do with DD's diapers.

    The BG one-size diapers tend to fit, depending on the build of your baby, around 10 lbs but you should be able to stick with xs/small until that point, I would think.

    Once baby is a little bit older (3 months-ish- this might be a ? for 0-6... it's been a while for me, I can't remember) and baby isn't pooping every 30 seconds, we got by with 8-10 diapers for a day instead of 12-18.

    Another cheaper option for you is either prefolds with covers for the newborn stage until the OS diapers fit, or you could do something like sunshine diapers does- a fitted diaper rental program. You return the diapers after 12 weeks, I think, and they give you a partial refund in store credit to buy OS/other diapers.
