How much of your babies' things were matching?

Cribs, car seats, high chairs, clothes, blankets...  how much of it was the same style/design?  If it wasn't matching, mind if I ask why?  How important was it that you have the same things for each child?

Re: How much of your babies' things were matching?

  • since we are using a lot of the stuff we had for DS our twins will not have a ton of matching stuff.

our house is small so i did want some things to match so we had some continuity - and not tons of mismatched huge things all over the place -ie) i got a matching high chair to the one we already had.

the cribs match... the car seats match... and they have a few matching outfits i got on clearance or as gifts - other than that- they will not be too matchy matchy.  I think it's cute to do sometimes...i have nothing against matching- but for us it doesn't work out b/c we're using DS's stuff.

I have one friend with ID girls who matches EVERYTHING - and they look adorable- but it looks like a lot of work to keep up to me :)

  • It wasn't important at all to me, but we ended up with a combination of stuff.

Cribs: matching because the IKEA cribs we liked were only in one style

Car seats: matching because my grandmother bought them to match the pattern of the stroller

High chairs: not matching: one we received as a handmedown one was a gift

    Clothes: 50-50 matching and not

Blankets: we have tons and tons of blankets in all combinations of matching and not.  The ones they sleep with now are the ones I knit for them while on bedrest and they are the same yarn color but different patterns.

  • Our cribs match, our infant car seats match but the new ones we just got are different (blue and pink) and the high chairs are the same.

I have b/g twins so the clothes do not match much unless I find the same style just different colors which I do every so often.  They have different but the same bedding in their cribs (same style different colors).

  • Cribs match.  They are in the same room and it was easy to just buy matching.

Car seats now match - again, easy to buy 3 of the same. Infant car seats did not match.  We had a car seat from our first baby.

Most of the infant clothes did not match unless they were gifts.  We had a ton of clothes from our first baby.  Now, I find it easy to buy 3 of the same or similar.

The only time I think it's important to have 3 of the same is with toys and/or books - to keep the fighting to a minimum!  Other than that, it is for convenience.

  • Our cribs, car seats, high chairs and blankets are matching.  Some of our clothes are. With b/g twins, I love finding cute matching outfits.  But I also love a lot of outfits that are cute dresses or cute polo shirts that I can't find anything matching.  I figure it's good for them to not always match, so they have their own identity.  We also received hand-me downs from our niece, so we have 2 different swings and 2 different activity centers (1 of each from her, and we registered for the other one) and we also have some clothes from her.
  • a lot of the big stuff we got was hand-me-downs, but from a friend with twins. so for swings, we had two of the same and one different. same with bouncy seats. :) for cribs, i purposely chose three different white cribs, for an eclectic look.

car seats were all the same. clothes - some match, most don't, since i buy from consignment sales and get a lot of hand me downs.

high chairs are all the same.

  • Most of our gear is matching - it was easier to register for 2 of the same and like Goldie, I wanted the stuff in the house to be the same so it didn't look like a huge mess. So cribs, seats, high chairs are the same. The clothes and blankets I haven't bought anything really matching though I did get tons of matching outfits at the shower. I don't plan on trying to have them in matching outfits though - my DH feels pretty strongly about that.

  • Our guys have barely anything matching....Maybe a few sets of clothes that match.  We used everything our 3 year old son used and then just bought an extra one of things we needed (ie carseat, crib, high chair) It wasn't that important to us to have matching items, it was more important for us to save money, since I quit my job to stay at home with the kids.

  • I think the only things I had that matched were the car seats and cribs.  The only reason the car seats matched was b/c they went with the stroller.  I had matching cribs b/c they were cheap and they were originally in the same room.  This is my personal thought process, they are two individual people.  I didn't and still don't like to do things the same just because they are twins.  For me it is probably easier since they are B/G twins.

Matching cribs and bedding, high chairs, and car seats.  No matching outfits.  If I did receive matching outfits I either exchanged them or they just didn't wear them at the same time.
  • Barely anything-these guys are numbers 3 and 4 for us, so they get what DS and DD were using!
  • Certain things I wanted matching - high chairs, cribs, car seats - just 'cause I think it looks better.  Other things I really wanted 2 different ones - bouncy seats, swings (we had a nice one and a cheap floor one) b/c I know it would mean diversity for them at some point.  The stuff I didn't receive as gifts, I bought second hand...

As for clothes, I prefer to dress them matching/coordinated but not in the same exact thing but we got a TON of matching sets.  Watcha goin to do?

We haven't gotten to the place where they're fighting over the same toy but someone mentioned for a few key items, it's worth so they don't fight.  Verdicts still out on that for me...
