It seems like everyone I know with girls are already pt'd at 2.5 yr old. My DS could care a less if he is in a poopy diaper, does not tell me when he needs to go and simply has no interest. Have I done something wrong? I dont want to force it but am feeling bad about this.
Re: Am I the only one w/a 2.5 DS not interested in potty training?
Well I have a DD, but she has no interest in the potty. She used to at least sit on it, but not anymore. I have given up for the moment and maybe in another month or so I will try again.
So no, you're not alone.
My son does the same thing. He has gone a few times at home, but he is not consistent with it. He also could care less that he sits in a dirty diaper. I just figured I would work more with him once his baby sister arrives.
Sam-mommy to Brady 11/6/06 & #2 edd 4/1/09-she's late!!!
Nest babies are way ahead of anyone I know IRL.
My son was fully trained at 3.5. At 2.5 he was nowhere near ready.
When he started in the 3s at preschool, I think only two or three kids out of a class of 15 or so were pt'ed.
Mine turns 3 this week. He WAS interested, and doing really well. Then after a while he got bored with it and started demanding pullups (during the success phase these were only for overnight). I asked why and he told me quite clearly "because I have accidents and I don't want to stop playing and go toilet". Well. That'll teach me.
Not sure what to do next. I don't want to force him. At the moment I'm just trying to get him to go to the toilet regularly even if he won't wee and still wets the pull ups. I figure if he has to go to the toilet anyway he may figure he might as well tell me when.
Who knows! But I was impressed with the explanation.
