thank you note question

So DH's cousin wrote on a card for the shower that she would make us a blanket, but waited bc she didn't know the colors. So do I send a thank you now, or wait til she makes it? I know, stupid question.....

I would wait.  That way you can make it more personal by saying you love how soft it is, blah blah.

I would send it now and say how much you are looking forward to wrapping up your little one in the blanket!

...I would wait to send a thank you for the blanket. But if it feels weird not to send her anything, you can always send her a note saying that you enjoyed seeing her at the shower and are looking forward to the blanket.

I think I would go ahead and send it now. We can't wait to see the blanket, etc. Send a card now and send a pic of baby in the blanket later?

Why not do both? Send her a note now telling her you can't wait to see her work, and it'll be so nice that baby has something handmade, blah blah blah.

Then send her another thank-you once it's completed. 

Hardly worth the debate over a few minutes and an extra stamp.

I would word it something like "It was so nice getting to spend time with you at our shower....blah, blah....  We are also so honored that you offered to make the blanket for us....".

wait-that would be like me saying ill buy you dinner next time we go out and you thanking me before we go out to dinner...ok bad analogy but you know what i mean.

I say do both....send a thank you card now to say how excited you are for the thoughtful gift she's making.  Then maybe later, send another one with a photo of your LO wrapped up in the blanket
